FAQs

  1. Q.Does the in game time & weather really work?

  2. A.Yes, it really does check what time it is and where you are to customise the graphics and wind to what’s happening outside.

  1. Q.How does the wind work?

  2. A.The wind provides resistance when you’re flying. There are discrete indicators around the play screen which show the direction and intensity of the wind. The stronger the wind outside is, the more difficult you’ll find it to play. To master the game, is to complete it during a storm.

  1. Q.The game uses my location, is it stored anywhere?

  2. A.No, we don’t store any information at all regarding your location. We only collect basic anonymous user stats through Flurry.

  1. Q.Why isn’t the game free?

  2. A.We’re two people, who have invested 6 months hard work to make this game happen. We would love to provide fantastic updates, and make more games, but we can’t do that without charging at least something.

  1. Q.Why is the game 59p / 99c?

  2. A.We priced the game at about the same cost as a (cheap) cup of coffee in most cities. Its not much, and we hope you don’t think so. It will also enable us to carry on working on the game.

  1. Q.Why should I buy the game?

  2. A.Because its really fun, and provides an ever changing dynamic which is engaging and different. Also, you’ll be supporting a small developer to make more great games.

  1. Q.Will you provide future updates?

  2. A.Yes, we have a whole programme of updates which we really want to release.

  1. Q.I really like the game, what can I do to help?

  2. A.App store ratings and reviews are seriously important to small developers like us. If you like the game, please take a minute to rate and review it. The iTunes link at the top of this page takes you straight into the store. Thank you for your support.

Ducktastic is a fantastic retro game for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

“This is a bit of genius” - Touchmyapps.com

The only game using the real weather around you.

Unfortunately for you, ducks are tasty. You were shot and captured, taken from your family, but you escaped becoming a main course at the local restaurant. Now you've just got to get home to the safety of your nature reserve.

Along the way, you'll have to eat to survive. It's a long journey, however there's plenty of bugs flying past to eat, but beware the one which stings!

The hunters aren't pleased you escaped. They want flesh. Your flesh. Cooked! So, expect to be shot at. A lot.

Ducktastic is both fun and addictive, harking back to the games you played as a child. Pilot your duck through 18 levels and stages in this beautiful game with exquisite hand painted graphics and great game play. Eat the bugs, dodge the bullets and do everything you can, not to end up on the restaurant menu. By using your local time and weather conditions in the game, it offers something different each time you play. With wind direction and speed affecting your flight, and with rain, clouds, night and more, it's ever changing and ever challenging.

Features include:

18 levels/stages through 6 exquisite regions
☆ Beautiful artwork with hand painted backgrounds

Weather FX*; each time you play it could be different**

Automatic day and night time modes

* Weather FX requires an active data connection and your location turned on...

** we accept no responsibility for your local weather...

Ducktastic– I can’t say there are too many games on the App Store where you get to play as a duck.  Still, you may be wondering why I find that noteworthy.  I actually don’t, but it’s a certain nifty feature of this game that has me intrigued.  If you have an internet connection (I’m assuming WiFi works, though it is not specified) and you allow the game to use your location, the weather effects in the game will be based on your real world weather!  To be quite honest, this is a bit of genius if you ask me, and I’m really surprised that no one else has thought of it before now.  The best part is that things like wind and clouds can affect the game play.  As for the game itself, you need to guide the duck through 18 levels, collecting food to eat and avoiding getting shot by the hunters.  Not exactly ground breaking, but with the varying weather effects you could be playing a different game every time.

VNA interviewed about Ductastic on zimo

VNA were interviewed about the creation of the game, how they thought of the idea, and how they made it happen. Read the fantastic story here, in Croatian. If that’s not your language, don’t worry, but it is a good read.

Ducktastic has had more great things written about it in the blogosphere...

Omizio has written a fantastic review of the game, however it is in Croatian, thus you may need google translate.

Tech Digest also has a nice little piece too.
